Elaine has been needle felting since 2014 alongside painting animal portraits in pastel pencil. She has always been creative and holds a BA(Hons) in multimedia textiles which she put to use by running art and craft workshops full time for Mencap. Being creative and then showing other people their creative capabilities is something she really enjoys doing.

What drew Elaine to using wool as a medium to explore animal portraiture was the vast range of colours, textures and types of fleece that are available and the tactile and therapeutic nature of working with a natural material.

She is building up a collection of felting kits for different abilities to experience the relaxing properties of needle felting and in her spare time needle felts one of a kind sculptures,

What makes the Woolly Rabbit different is the ethos behind being a sustainable, environmentally friendly craft. Elaine uses materials which are reusable, recycled and/or recyclable and some of the wool she uses is sourced from local British small holdings who breed native British sheep.
