Inspired by patterns found in nature, hand cut designs are used to give an organic feel to this geometric design. A process of ‘screen powder printing’ is used to transfer the design onto the glass, by building up layers of glass powder.

The glass is then fired in a kiln at a very high temperature for many hours to achieve the desired effect, this process often takes two or more firings. Returning to the kiln for a final firing the glass piece is placed over a mould to form its dish shape.

The image is an example, each dish is individually made so may differ slightly.

The dish is presented in a gift box made from recycled cardboard.

The Glass Cabin

Bristol glass artist, Rachael Durkan, the inspiration behind The Glass Cabin, creates unique glass art and homewares. Inspired by geometric shapes and patterns found in nature, subtle colour combinations are used to create charming pieces, revealing themselves as the light changes. Rachael’s more recent work is produced using powder print technique. This is very similar to screen printing, moving glass powders through a fine mesh screen to build up layers of patterns and colours. Fascinated by the complexity of this material and the processes involved in kiln-formed glass is where Rachael’s passion lies. Available to purchase In Store and Online

DELIVERY

When you place an order it goes directly to the stockist/maker and they will post your item(s) to you.

The delivery costs and timescales are stated in each product description and vary depending on who you are buying from and what you are buying.

If you are buying from more than one stockist/maker you will be charged postage by each of them as they each incur their own postage costs

If you are buying more than one item from the same stockist/maker they do not combine postage, instead the highest postage amount is what you will pay.

For example, if you are buying a picture and a card from the same stockist/maker and the postage cost for the picture is £3 and the postage cost for the card is £1 you will pay a total of £3 postage rather than £4
